PRESS RELEASE ASEAN-KOREA CENTRE : BKPM HOST AKC INVESTMENT MISSION

Mission in Search Opportunities in Ship Parts & Ship Design and Construction Machinery Industry

ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General, Young Jai CHO) is dispatching an Investment Mission to Indonesia (Jakarta and Batam Free Trade Zone) and Singapore on sectors of ship parts, ship design and construction machinery industries from 3 to 9 October 2010 in search for investment opportunities.

Mission members, comprising 20 Korean company representatives and related experts will visit various governemnt agencies and local companies in ship parts, ship design and construction machinery industry sectors and have business meetings with local businessmen. The participants will be provided with an opportunity to explore and identify investment opportunities through business networking.

In Jakarta, the mission members will be informed of the latest investment policies by Ministry of Industry, Indonesia during “Business Forum on Investment Opportunities in the Field of Ship Building Industry and Construction Maqchinery”, which will be hosted by Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

Deputy Chairman for Investment Promotion Darmawan Djajusman told the Korean businessmen that BKPM appreciate the investment mission organize by AKC and would support the interest to invest in Indonesia.

In addition, mission members will have business meetings with Indonesian businessmen and visit local companies of ship parts, ship design and construction machinery industries which are expected to help the mission members better understand local markets.

On 6 October, the mission members will be briefed on the latest investment policies and opportunities by Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority. Also, they will have business meetings with Indonesian and Singaporean businessmen which are expected to provide an opportunity to better understand local markets and obtain information on investment potentials. In addition, there will be visits to the local companies of ship parts, ship design and construction machinery industries in Batam.

The mission members will then move to Singapore where they will be briefed on the investment opportunities in Singapore by Economic Development Board (EDB). In addition, they will have business meeting with Singaporean businessmen and visit local companies to better understand local markets.

ASEAN-Korea Centre plans to dispatch an investment mission to Malaysia and Brunei from 31 October to 5 November 2010 in the fields of LED and Smart Grid to further explore investment opportunities in these countries.
